Rohnert Park, CA - The School of Business and Economics (SBE) at Sonoma State University (SSU) announced that Business Professor Robert Girling has released a new book entitled, The Good Company: Sustainability in Hospitality, Tourism, and Wine. The book focuses on sustainable innovations in business that can serve as a learning tool for both practitioners and educators in hospitality, wine, and environmental studies. The book is a sequel to The Good Company: Compassionate Companies that are Changing the World, published in 2012.
"This book is a collection of thirty stories and case studies from sustainable wineries, agritourism, hotels, cruise lines, and tour operators around the world that built profitable businesses while serving local communities and healing the planet," Dr. Robert Girling said.
Dr. Girling is author of numerous books and over fifty articles. He has been a professor in the School of Business and Economics at Sonoma State University since 1976, and has expertise in social entrepreneurship and innovation in developing countries.
"This is an important book, not only for its insight regarding the relationship between global business and social justice, but also because it advances the dialogue in business research and practice. We're fortunate to have faculty members like Dr. Girling who are as committed to students' development as they are to sustainable business development. This is a powerful combination and a critical factor for the University's leadership and success," Dr. Karen Thompson, Chair of the Business Administration Department said.
Dr. Girling received his Doctor of Philosophy from Stanford University and Master of Arts from the University of Essex in England. He has worked as a consultant with the World Bank, the United Nations (UN), the Pan American Health Organization, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Organization of American States (OAS).
