Rohnert Park, California - The Wine Business Institute (WBI) at Sonoma State University (SSU) today announced that Dr. Damien Wilson, Hamel Family Faculty Chair in Wine Business, will moderate the opening session titled, Quality - Cornerstone of Craft, at the Craft Beverage Expo on May 18 at 10 a.m. at the Oakland Convention Center in San Francisco's East Bay. The event is sponsored by the Craft Beverage Education Association, which promotes collaboration and education in the growing craft beverage industry. Following that event, on May 26 at 3 p.m., Professor Wilson will address theInternational Cool Climate Wine Symposium at the Hilton Brighton Metropole outside London on England's south shore. His presentation will explore how wine businesses can use innovative technologies to market and sell products more effectively.

Wine business leaders need to adapt to this modern environment, which means navigating a world of message-saturated, tech-savvy consumers. Success requires businesses to be aware of the latest innovations and understand how to plan and implement technology adoption strategies," Dr. Damien Wilson, Hamel Family Chair in Wine Business said. "By engaging industry practitioners in a collective way, we can provide insight to best practices and real-life case studies that show how businesses benefit from the digital age."
Professor Wilson has 20 years of international wine industry experience in Australia, France, and the U.S. He is former Director of Wine Business programs at Burgundy School of Business in Dijon, France, and widely known for expertise in wine production, distribution, sales, and service. His research specialties are wine consumer behavior, tourism, technology, and crowdfunding, including the recently published, "Tensions and ties in social media networks: Towards a model of understanding business relationship development and business performance enhancement through the use of LinkedIn," in Industrial Marketing Management, an international journal of marketing for industrial and high-tech firms.
In 2015, Professor Wilson was appointed as the inaugural Hamel Family Faculty Chair in Wine Business at SSU.
