Biography

David Macias brings extensive experience in accounting, taxation, and financial analysis to his teaching at Sonoma State University. He currently serves as a Senior Program Specialist with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he manages financial disclosure and risk assessment within the Large Business and International Division of the Internal Revenue Service.

David has taught corporate and individual taxation, managerial accounting, and financial accounting as adjunct faculty at both Sonoma State University and Santa Rosa Junior College. In addition to his university teaching, he has developed and instructed professional courses for the Internal Revenue Service, including corporate and individual income tax and financial products.

He has co-authored and presented research papers at the IRS Research Conference in Washington, D.C., focusing on financial product business rules and trends in large business examinations. David’s combined teaching and professional experience allows students to gain practical insight into the accounting profession and its application in both private and public sectors.

He holds an MBA in Finance from San Francisco State University and a BBA in Accounting from the University of New Mexico. David is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
